IDENTITY MATERIALS | TAGLINE | ROOM ARTWORK | ADVERTISING | SIGNAGE The former Jamison Inn of South Bend, was forced to change its name when the “Signature Inn” national chain changed theirs to Jameson Inn, with a property nearby. After adopting a new name “Ivy Court Inn and Suites”, and logo, the Inn began a major $1M renovation with the goal of upgrading their look from “80s french-country” to “boutique contemporary”. Ivy Court’s Notre Dame alumni-owners aligned with Bodnar of BDC and her teaching studio at Notre Dame to fully flush out the new identity. Starting with market research and developing color palettes based on interior design boards, Bodnar led students through the comprehensive approach to creating the new brand. Recommendations for updated business cards, brochures, ads, and signs play off the tagline “you’re inn”, an idea that Bodnar threw out for her class to explore. Ivy Court Inn & Suites accepted the class’ recommendations and employed Bodnar and a new design graduate to see them through. Additional work has continued for Bodnar Design Consultancy, as Bodnar dubbed Ivy Court’s new interiors look “soft modern” and created mood boards for room artwork, lobby furnishings and signage. BDC outfitted the rooms with unique canvas-stretched photographs of views of Notre Dame, which relate to its close proximity to campus, one of its most coveted assets. A new front desk featuring BDC’s illuminated sign elements is slated for construction in late 2009.
