CRATE & BARREL

print | packaging | environmental | art direction | design management

Prior to establishing Bodnar Design, Paula spent nearly a decade with Crate and Barrel, joining the company as the second full time designer working under the Creative Director. At that time, there were just over 60 stores nationwide and 75 associates at the corporate headquarters. As the company expanded, Paula was promoted through the ranks to eventually manage the Corporate Design area.

During Paula’s 9+ year tenure, she was instrumental in organizing, staffing, training and managing graphic design teams (the department grew from a group of 4 to almost 30) as the company's store count doubled. She also played a key role in the launch of Crate and Barrel's second, more urban brand, CB2.

During her “Crate” years, Paula designed and art directed within every discipline, from catalogues and packaging to the company’s first e-commerce web site. Over the years she helped evolve + elevate the brand, leading large-scale initiatives such as The Gift Registry Program, The Furniture Collection identity, gift packaging and gift card systems, and store opening promotions.
